My last trip around Argentina! Originally I was just gonna tour around
Salta by myself, but I made some friends while I was there, and then I was lucky
enough to be joined by Graham and Bogo! We also met some fun people in the
hostel who we got to hang out with.
Salta: the City
Downtown and the Cathedrals
While in the main square, I visited the Museo de Alta Montaņa (the museum
had a ton of artifacts that were discovered along with three Incan mummies
during an expedition in 1999) and a few cathedrals, even a monastery.
Climb up Cerro San Francisco
Following Bogo and Graham's adventurous side, we climbed up and down the hill
instead of taking the funicular. But the view made it worth it!
There were 1070 steps to the top, but we took quite a different trail
down.
El Mercado
A good place to buy souvenirs, the town market had many local products:
sweets, wines and clothing typical of the region.
Salta: the Hostel
To pass the time while our hostel was flooded and the electricity was out, we
spent the entire day playing charades, pictionary and similar games... and then
made a parilla (grill) for the entire hostel! The food was great and
entertainment was provided by everyone who could play or sing.
